After having an alcohol- free night out that was big on dancing but low on exciting non-alcoholic drinks, Ellie felt let down by what was on offer. A trip to her homeland of Colombia later and she felt re-inspired by her Latin roots. After soaking up the vibrant colours, tropical flavours, and Latin beats of her family’s homeland, she returned home to bottle it. Fuelled by that Latin positivity, Ellie set out to infuse the sun-drenched flavours of Colombia with her non-alcoholic spirits. The result? Caleño. Non-alcoholic spirits for anyone, anytime, anywhere.

I studied History at Bristol Uni and managed to get an intern role at Caleño as Marketing Assistant in June 2020 after I graduated, I'd previously only had some marketing experience in Healthcare and Tech so this was completely different for me.
I was so happy to kept on as a permanent member of staff, I'm just part-time now as I'm also studying for a Master's degree.
As an intern I helped out with all kinds of things like social media scheduling, content writing, company research and admin bits here and there. I really felt like I learnt a lot in the first few months that I was here.
I got a real flavour for the role as an intern, since I started the company has grown so much and the environment as a Start-up is really dynamic. I really enjoy collaborating with similar small brands, or small foodie brands across our social media to see what other people can bring to the table - it's really exciting and insightful to be part of this element of branding.
I'd never worked in the drinks industry before so it just goes to show that you can draw upon skills you've learnt elsewhere, put yourself out of your comfort zone, and ultimately end up in a new industry that you absolutely love and open so many new experiences and opportunities.
