I studied Creative Writing at Bradford University but comedy has always been a big love of mine since I was a teenager. I actually heard about Next Up many years ago through a comedy podcast that I was listening to.
I love stand-up comedy but have never really been able to do it myself, so when I discovered Next Up and what they do (streaming stand-up comedy from around the world) I thought that's a job I can get to! When I heard they were hiring for the Community Manager role I applied, with quite a sad, desperate cover letter, but I got the job!
My day to day work mostly revolves around communication; I keep in touch with all the users, acts and agents that we work with, making sure that they are having the best experience with the brand and that they are happy with the services that we are providing, as well as finding feedback and reviewing our services to make sure we are delivering the best possible experience that we can.
I look at the content we are providing, I check that the app is working smoothly etc. I usually have about 50 emails that come in overnight so I'll also spend some time getting back to people with urgent queries. I'll also jump onto our social media platforms to check that our online community is happy with what we are doing.
I'm the first point of contact for any unhappy people but also for positive feedback and happy news, which is nice.
