As part of the Youth Worker Academy, you will be working with the XLP partner café “The Jamii Project” which aims to bridge the gap between education and work by offering a nurturing environment that meets students where they are.
You will be responsible for leading the environmental direction of the Jamii Project ensuring that the consumables are carbon neutral whilst developing the vegan side of the café. You’ll be thinking of initiatives and ideas that can help make the café more sustainable and environmentally friendly - and play a role in implementing them!
You’ll get full training on running the café, making hot drinks, serving food, cleaning, and health and safety responsibilities in the cafe and zero waste shop. Plus, you’ll get to train others in how to work in the café and shop.
You will work with people with a range of additional needs from Autism Spectrum Disorder, Mental Health, and physical challenges, making their time at the café a special time for them.
What makes a great XLP team member?
If you’ve got it, flaunt it (if not, Google it!)
The above experience is great to have, but don’t worry if not - they are not essential criteria to you applying for the role.
